Andrew Desjardins just earned his wings

by Andrew

I need to take a moment away from my birthday celebration to celebrate the life of our clients of The Mama Edna Project Andrew Desjardins. Last night at 7 p.m., Andrew earned his wings and is now lifted from his place of pain and suffering he experienced throughout his cancer struggle. He was a real trooper and a fighter against his failing body. But his spirit is now lifted up into a place of light. He left this world surrounded by love. He is truly in a better place. Rest in peace Andrew.

The Gerson Therapy Basics

by Andrew

This week, upon my return from my mini birthday vacation at Wrightsville Beach with my partner Timothy, I will begin the first step in Gerson Therapy training with a live stream 18-hour course Thursday Feb. 22 through Saturday Feb. 24. Please Google The Gerson Institute for details on what amazing work it does.

Latest Update on client DeEtta Wood

by Andrew

Sharing this message from Jeff woods, loving husband and caregiver to his wife, DeEtta Woods and their children while DeEtta goes through cancer treatment. We provided them a juicer and a “tool kit” back in November and today, we are seeing some results. Here is the message from Joy Jones:

“Timothy McLamb and Andrew Klutz. Just got off the phone with Jeffrey Wood. It is such wonderful news about DeEtta Jones Wood! Her tumors in her lungs have shrunk 70% and the other tumors in her bones etc. are in a “resolved mode”! Please share on the The Mama Edna Project! He wanted to thank you two for all of your help. I know that Aunt Edna Honeycutt McLamb has been watching over her niece!”

We are thrilled to hear this news! May DeEtta’s progress continue!

Client Updates

by Andrew

Just a couple quick updates on two clients:

DeEtta is doing as well as can be expected at this point. She remains in a lot of pain, but is “living her Life”, continues to juice daily (including wheatgrass) and following a healthy diet. Her husband remains very strong in helping her with her nutritional needs and helping run the home with 3 young children.

Andrew is still struggling. When I visited him Saturday morning at the hospital, he was using a bi-pat machine to help expand his diaphragm to ease his breathing. His caregiver and he remain strong in their resolve and are juicing daily as well. He drinks lemon water all day for hydration using water from his reverse osmosis machine. His appetite is small, so he is eating protein bars, soups and drinking some Magic Mineral Broth.

Best hope possible for great outcomes with both these folks. Together we can beat cancer.

Inclement Weather for Clients who use oxygen

by Andrew

I know that folks with cancer or other serious illness already have a lot on their minds just dealing with this disease, so please, if you know someone who may be alone, check on them today with this coming weather to be sure they have what they need. If they are using oxygen, please check to see if they have a large back-up O2 tank in the event of a power failure and be sure they can get to it easily and that it is indeed functional. If there are any issues, please call the O2 provider to get it resolved. Also, check to see if the person has registered their home with the power company as a home where someone has a medical need and need to be prioritized for power recovery as soon as possible. Most back-up tanks are 24-36 hours plus any mobile tanks available that are used while traveling to and from appointments. I have experienced times where the provider placed the tanks too far from the patient’s reach. Please lend a hand if you can.

Andrew Desjardins

by Andrew

One of our clients, Andrew Desjardins, needs lots of healing vibes and the strength of the universe headed his way. He is at Duke Hospital and is having a very rough go. His cancer has spread and the doctors have called in palliative care. He, his caregiver, and I are still trying to fight this cruel battle through a strong nutritional program of eating clean, healthy food, juicing, wheatgrass, and lemon water to help his blood pH. Please keep him in your thoughts. I will be headed to Duke Hospital today to pay him a visit before he goes home tomorrow, where he has chosen to be during his palliative care.

The Breville Juice Fountain Crush

by Andrew

Here at The Mama Edna Project, we usually use one of two juicers. We featured the Hurom a few ago. Today, we feature the Breville Juice Fountain Crush. It operates very similarly to the Hurom. It’s produces the same quality juice as well. From the Breville website about this juicer:

“It’s the slow juicer that crushes and squeezes to make juice with nutrients and a little fiber for a thicker, smoother texture. The 240 watt motor quietly juices everything from berries and oranges to wheatgrass and carrots for delicious results.” It also has a 10 year motor warranty. We love this machine!

by Andrew

Today, February 4, 2014, is World Cancer Day. Today, we celebrate all you cancer survivors who fought the battle against this cruel disease and won! Winning is usually a long-term effort, guided by healthy eating, reducing stress and exercise. We know you are doing all you can to stay cancer-free.
