Let the STRESS go: Keeping the stress out of cancer treatments!

by Andrew

A cancer diagnosis can be very shocking and debilitating itself. The stress of treating and/or curing the cancer adds layers of stress that is absolutely not healthy, especially at the moment when you need your mind, body and soul to be at it’s peak performance to beat this disease. Through our reading and spending time with clients, we have compiled a short list of ways to ease the stress that we have seen really work. Free your mind and allow it to help in the process of healing your body. Stay positive as much as possible. Vent when you have to. Cry when you have to. But bring it back to the positive as fast as you can. Here is a short list that we recommend. Below the list are links to some stress easing methods that some cancer centers use.

  1. Meditate or pray. Get in touch with your spiritual side.
  2. Laugh a lot. Watch comedies on TV or read a funny book. Hang out and laugh with friends.
  3. Take a walk in the park, in the forest or around the neighborhood. Breath deeply!!
  4. Exercise with a friend. Again, breath deeply. Oxygen and cancer don’t mix well.
  5. Take a relaxing Epsom salt and lavender essential oil bath. The magnesium in the salts aid in lowering stress levels.
  6. Plant a small garden or plant a container garden if you don’t have space for a larger project. Grow some flowers as well as veggies.
  7. Juice a big green juice every morning before starting your eating, at least two hours before solid food.
  8. Take charge of your regimen. Do the research. Look for resources and GO!

Dandelion Tea Anyone?!?!

by Andrew

Dandelions are among the first flowers that bloom in the Spring. Many regard these plants as weeds, but did you know that all parts of the dandelion are edible and nutritious? Saute the greens and serve with a warm bacon dressing (or use a good balsamic to avoid the bacon). Throw the green in raw with other salad greens. Make tea with the roots. And, from The Splendid Table, bake some dandelion cookies. Growing your own dandelion is so inexpensive as well.
