Gardening for Cancer with The Mama Edna Project

by Andrew

#gardeningforcancer

As we approach the 4th anniversary of Mama Edna’s passing on May 2nd, we are looking at launching a new education program called Gardening for Cancer. With the help of several books and websites, we aim to help financially disabled cancer victims not only with a juicer and a “tool kit”, but also help with creating a small garden space. This garden will create food, fun and flowers for the person with cancer as well as allow time for him/her to spend outdoors in nature. According to research, gardening can help reduce stress levels while going through cancer treatments, while giving time to spend in the fresh air and sun, a major source of vitamin D, a much needed nutrient to help regulate stress levels. Please donate soon to help with this very worthwhile project. Thanks for you support.

We just came across this link to Walgreen’s page for help with chemotherapy side effects. It’s not all new to us, but it does put a lot of information on one page which is very helpful when time is of the essence. Knowledge is power!! Help yourself whenever possible and reach out when you cannot. Asking for help is just one more part of cancer care.

by Andrew

Good morning and welcome to Turmeric Tuesday here at The Mama Edna Project. We’re here and all over the web. Find us on Facebook by clicking on the letter “f” at the top right corner or clicking on this link: https://www.facebook.com/TheMamaEdnaProject/.

In case you’re just finding us, we try to share the knowledge out there in the world with you in hopes that it will guide your nutritional journey before, during and well beyond your cancer treatments. Most Tuesday’s, we share a turmeric recipe, often from our Pinterest page where we collect lots of information to pass along.  Find us there as well.  https://www.pinterest.com/mamaednaproject/pins/

or on Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheMamaEdnaProj

Here we give you one of the many versions of warm turmeric milk recipes that are out there. Make your own once you know the basic ingredients, but always include one or two ingredients: black pepper and/or extra virgin coconut oil. These two ingredients aid in the bio-availability of the turmeric and helps with its absorption. Make some tonight.

It’s Turmeric Tuesday for 04.18.17!

Love using turmeric? Want to get more benefits from having it fresh on hand? Try growing it yourself in a square foot garden concept. It’s a beautiful plant with wide tropical leaves. Gardening can really improve the mindset when faced with the challenges of cancer treatment. So, we are trying to combine gardening and juicing into a healthy addition to your regimen.

Gardening for Cancer

by Andrew

We are just starting to read about how gardening can be therapeutic for cancer victims, not only providing fresh, organic produce for juicing, blending and eating, but giving the person something to look forward to everyday. Gardening creates a sense of purpose in an otherwise dark place. We are reading up on Jenny Petersen’s journey in her book called

The Cancer Survivor’s Garden Companion: Cultivating Hope, Healing and Joy in the Ground Beneath Your Feet.

Find it on AmazonSmile and name us as your charity of choice while shopping there.

Here at The Mama Edna Project, we are perfecting our square foot garden space to help teach others how to grow in small spaces and get the nutrition they need and the therapeutic processes of gardening for cancer. Here are some photos of the beginning.
